Caring Smiles is pleased to have opened back up on May 4th, 2020 as the state of Colorado transitions from the Stay at Home phase to the Safer at Home phase. As we continue to follow COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, we wanted to share important information for you to be aware of before your next appointment.

We also want to be transparent about what we’re doing to keep our staff, facility, and ultimately, YOU, safe and healthy, as well as what you can do to help us achieve that. Please watch this video and take a glance at the information on this page. Thank you!

What We’re Doing

As the entire nation copes with the effects of COVID-19, here are some clear steps Caring Smiles is taking to ensure a clean and healthy environment for our team members and our patients.

First and foremost, Caring Smiles has modified our schedule to allow time for proper disinfection of dental stations between patients as well as to accommodate social distancing requirements. While we request that you arrive at your dental appointment with your own mask or face covering, we will supply you with a surgical face mask if needed.

We are required to screen every individual entering our dental office for symptoms of COVID-19. As such, the inner door of the vestibule will be locked, and we will only allow individuals to enter with a mask or face covering in place. We will then take your temperature, ask you to sanitize your hands, and ask you a short set of questions about COVID-19 exposure and symptoms.

As noted above, our reception area has been rearranged to promote social distancing. We have removed a number of chairs to allow proper distancing between patients. Additionally, Caring Smiles has removed magazines and other items in the reception area that are difficult to disinfect.

A big concern with COVID-19 is the generation of aerosols since COVID-19 is transmitted through fine mist aerosols in the air. The instruments and procedures in dentistry inherently create aerosols. For aerosol-generating procedures, the team at Caring Smiles will use advanced levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) similar to those used in hospitals with patients being screened for COVID-19.

Our team will always utilize appropriate PPE around the office, and once your dental visit is complete, we will escort you to the check-out area where the administrative team will complete any necessary scheduling, billing, and follow-up tasks.

We have always prided ourselves in maintaining a very clean and safe office. The entire Caring Smiles team recently spent two full days being trained by the foremost dental infection control experts in the state. In addition to deeply disinfecting the dental office and equipment, we fully understand the most recent infection control and workplace safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the American Dental Association (ADA).

Caring Smiles also understands and is in compliance with the regulations and guidelines that have been issued by the state of Colorado and Larimer County. We have the necessary safety equipment, the proper training, and the experience to keep both our patients and our team members safe and healthy.

How You Can Help

Maintaining a clean and safe dental office is a team effort. In addition to all of the measures we have put in place, here are some ways you can help us stay sanitary and healthy.

Please arrive a few minutes early for your scheduled dental appointment, and remain in your car until we are ready to have you enter the building. When you arrive, call (970) 221-3700 to let us know you are here, and we’ll have someone let you know when you can come in.

Caring Smiles has been encouraged to limit the number of people in our dental facility at any given time, so please help us in this effort by not bringing children, pets, or additional people to your appointment unless absolutely necessary.

Every person who enters our dental facility, regardless of whether they are a team member or a patient, is required to wear a cloth mask or other face covering inside the building. We encourage patients to bring their own, but we will supply you with a surgical face mask if you do not have one.

In the operatory, we will ask patients to rinse their mouths with a 1.5% hydrogen peroxide solution which is intended to lower the number of microbes in your mouth. We also request that you continue to use your mask or face covering at all times other than when one of our dentists needs to be working in your mouth.

Thank you so much for doing your part to make Caring Smiles the cleanest and safest dental office in Fort Collins. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We can be reached at (970) 221-3700 or by email at office@caringsmilesdental.com.

We are so grateful to have such wonderful patients! Please know that we always stand ready to care for you and your family in the most professional, caring manner possible.

Sincerely,

Kenneth B. Allen, DDS, FAGD
